One of the core tenets of the BuiltQuik philosophy is a commitment to sustainability.
The BuiltQuik construction system has been designed with sustainability at its core, addressing both environmental and economic factors from conception to completion. From material selection to structural design, every element has been carefully considered to deliver long-term efficiency, reduce waste, and create more sustainable communities.
While steel has a higher embodied carbon at the point of manufacture than timber, the BuiltQuik frame system is certified for a minimum 75-year lifespan – three times longer than a standard 25-year timber frame. This durability means that over time, fewer materials are required, significantly reducing overall emissions. Additionally, the system is designed to be fully demountable and reusable. Frames can be deconstructed, transported, and reassembled in new locations, minimising material waste and allowing for greater flexibility, especially in regions with evolving housing and construction needs.
BuiltQuik also enhances sustainability at the community level. By enabling regional production and engaging local builders, suppliers, and fabricators, the system supports economic resilience in regional areas. Local procurement not only reduces the environmental footprint of transporting materials but also enhances regional supply chains, making the housing solution more sustainable both socially and economically.
Environmental sustainability is also embedded in the design of the BuiltQuik system. As opposed to project homes, BuiltQuik designs can be tailored to meet certain performance capabilities. Buildings can be configured to support solar passive principles, including the use of raked ceilings for natural airflow, which improves thermal comfort and reduces reliance on mechanical heating and cooling.
Developers can plan entire communities around high-performance design criteria, supporting net-zero ambitions without compromising on durability or design. Because BuiltQuik structures are pre-certified, they can be retrofitted, reused, redesigned, and even in some instances completely redeployed for use in another area, eliminating the need for purchasing materials once more and thereby reducing material and financial waste.
