In partnership with Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) and local Indigenous employment networks, BuiltQuik supported Mogo LALC in designing two families new homes. Working closely with local architect Paul Dolphin Designs, Madeline, one of the daughters and an aspiring designer, was able to take her vision through to DA approval and into reality, delivering two beautiful, climate resilient family homes, and two secondary dwellings (granny flats) built on Country, by the community.
Throughout the project, three local trades assistants – two family members whose homes had also been lost, and their cousin who grew up next door – joined the BuiltQuik team to help install the prefabricated frames. They continued working with the local builder on the internal fit outs, gaining hands-on experience with a range of trades over nine months.
The project outcome was four newly built family homes in Mogo, 11% of total project funds directed to local Indigenous labour and businesses, and 75% of all trades and materials sourced locally.
